“A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” takes readers on an exciting journey through a carefully constructed narrative filled with surprising twists and turns. While some characters may lack depth, the outstanding protagonists and the seamless pacing contribute to a compelling story that keeps readers engaged until the final pages.

The introduction of characters (except Pip and Ravi) might feel somewhat forced, with more telling than showing. The abundance of name drops adds complexity, creating a challenge for readers to keep track of everyone. However, the main character, Pippa Fitz-Amobi, stands out as a diligent, bright, and relatable figure. Her determination and authentic portrayal make her a delightful protagonist, even if her ability to reach conclusions may occasionally seem too convenient.

Ravi, Sal Singh’s brother and Pip’s ally, brings a likable element to the narrative. His humor and attitude enhance the overall reading experience, striking a perfect balance amidst the investigative tension. AND PLUS OMG THEIR BANTERRRRRR

The pacing of the novel is commendable, maintaining a near-flawless rhythm that keeps readers engrossed. The plot unfolds seamlessly, introducing new twists in every chapter, making it challenging to predict the true culprit until the climactic revelation. And when i saw twists, I mean TWISTS: like bite my nails and fall of my bed twists. While the brisk pace does add excitement, a slower tempo might be preferred by some readers as it would have enriched certain immersive moments. (But i’m not complaining about that)

The book’s format, incorporating narration, capstone logs, interviews, text messages, and more, introduces a refreshing dimension to storytelling. This mixed media approach offers valuable insights into Pip’s thought process, departing from conventional book formats.

The plot, a standout feature, exemplifies suspenseful storytelling at its finest. The abundance of twists, skillfully interconnected and unveiled at opportune moments, keeps readers in suspense, challenging their assumptions. The meticulous build-up includes unnoticed clues, seemingly trivial details gaining relevance, and characters assumed to be mere fillers proving essential to the narrative.

In summary, “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” lives up to its acclaim and rightfully earns its fame. Despite minor character development concerns, the book provides an exceptional reading experience, leaving readers eagerly anticipating the sequel, “Good Girl, Bad Blood.” Holly Jackson’s debut stands out as one of the year’s exceptional reads, captivating audiences with its unpredictable plot, memorable characters, and innovative storytelling. Highly recommended for mystery enthusiasts and those seeking an enthralling literary adventure.

And take my advise guys, read this now before the series comes out so you can BINGE.
